DAY 2 OF LIVER CLEANSING CURE

 

The majority of toxins and substances that circulate throughout the blood-including pesticides, chemically synthesized drugs, and many carcinogens are neutralized and eliminated by the Phase 1 and 2 enzymes in the liver. The liver cleansing cure juices provide the liver with antioxidants and vitamins that enhance its function of detoxifying.

As stated in Day 1:

Some reasons why you may want to cleanse the liver are:

  • Bad liver function
  • Drug abuse
  • Chemical substance poisoning
  • Overweight or obesity
  • Skin rashes or eczema

Some of the most beneficial foods for the liver are

  • Cabbage
  • Radish
  • Carrot
  • Garlic

 

Breakfast                                                                                           

Grapefruit juice

Ingredients: 2 fresh grapefruits

Directions: Squeeze grapefruits in to a glass and drink.

Benefits: Weight reducing, detoxifying, purifying antioxidant.  The greater the intake of grapefruit juice, the lower the need you take medications. HOWEVER (before drinking grapefruit juice, consult a health professional and carefully read information leaflets of the medications you are taking as grapefruit juice tend to interact with a lot of medications such as oral contraceptives, antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, antiepileptics, immunosuppressants, hypolipidemics, chemotherapeutic agents.)

 

Mid-Morning                                                                                             

Dandelion infusion

Ingredients:  dandelion leaves

Directions: One tablespoon of leaves and/or dried root per cup of water. (possible interactions with lithium-based drugs, antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, and other antibiotics from the quinolone family.  Drugs metabolized by the hepatic cytochrome p450 family, statins, estrogens, opiates and potassium sparing diuretics.)

Benefits: promotes the cleansing mechanisms of the blood through the liver and kidneys. It also purifies and increases the production of bile, it’s a laxative and aids in digestive health.

 

Lunch                                                                                                          

Liver regeneration juice

Ingredients: 1 cactus fruit or substitute with 2 figs or 1 guava. 1 cup of grapes (black). 1 medium grapefruit, 2 radishes.

Directions: peel the cactus fruit and the grapefruit. Process in juicer or blender if juicer not available, strain if processed in blender, sweeten if desired with stevia.

Benefits: Helps to protect the liver, purify, alkalize and low in cholesterol. Provides energy, prevents cirrhosis, and those who suffers from fatty liver disease.

 

Mid Afternoon                                                                                           

Milk thistle infusion

 

Ingredients: 1 tsp milk thistle, 1tsp of ginger, 1 tsp of rosemary, and 1 cup of water.

Directions: boil one cup of water, remove from heat and immediately add one tsp of each of plant. Allow to sit for 10 minutes, then strain. sweeten to taste. Drink 1-3 cups per day for several weeks. Skip one week prior to drinking it again.

Benefits: Regenerates liver cells damaged by toxins such as alcohol and others. (Promotes emptying of the gall bladder and should not be taken in the event of blockage of bile ducts)

 

Dinner                                                                                                

Liver-Depurative broth

Ingredients: 2 Artichoke (use the external leaves, stem and leaves of the plant. 1 medium onion, l2tbsp lemon juice, 1 liter of water.

Directions: separate the external leaves of the artichoke, the stem and some leaves of the plant. The heart can be reserved for cooking, peel and chop onion, boil ingredients on low heat in a covered pot for 10-15 minutes, strain to obtain broth, add the lemon juice.

Benefits: Artichoke and onions mutually enhance their properties to reduce inflammation of the liver. Cleanses the liver and promotes its detoxifying function.
