The Many health benefits of Turmeric

filed under:

Turmeric has been around for centuries. Matter of fact , we all have probably used this plant and not even realize the benefits. When I was a child, I would remember if I fell or if anyone sprained a body part or had some wound, you were sent to my grandmother where will she will make a paste from turmeric and wrap the wound or place paste on the swelling along with some leaves and by the morning the swelling went down. I’m sure many of you have heard of the benefits of turmeric.

When I was diagnosed with a Cancer, it was one of the first supplements I stared taking because of the compound in turmeric called curcumin that is said to have cancer fighting properties.

Sone of the many benefits of Turmeric is listed below:

  1. It can treat indigestion.
  2. Poor circulation
  3. Cough
  4. Amenorrhea
  5. Pharyngitis
  6. skin disorders
  7. diabetes
  8. arthritis
  9. anemia
  10. wounds/bruises
  11. all immune system deficiencies.

Because of its energizing effects on the immune system, turmeric has and still being studied for use in the treatment of HIV and AIDS.

It can be taken in a capsule form or just taken with foods. Its found in creams, lotions, massage oil as compress and can betaken in food as spice

Whenever I am not well. I brew  large pot of tea with turmeric, garlic, ginger, lemon, cayenne pepper and sweeten with honey or agave. This is my hoe made flu shot.

If you have also heard of golden milk. its basically turmeric powder mixed with milk. I suggest using plant-based milk, as dairy does the opposite of turmeric by causing inflammation.

To make infusion

Warm 1 cup of plant-based milk, stir in 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Drink up to 3 cups per day.

  • As with all herbal supplements, new products or modifying your diet, consult with your medical provider before taking.
